Fall Party Planning

You just have to love autumn. It brings about such wonderful opportunities to decorate the house that can transition seamlessly from one holiday (Halloween) into another (Thanksgiving). And maybe it’s just as well that we get that double-benefit since the rush of Christmas is whispering around the corner. But since we don’t have to worry about that just yet let’s focus on the bounty of autumn and the blessings it brings for decorating and party planning. One of the quickest ways to bring the season into your home is by bringing in pumpkins, squash, and other gourds that instantly lend color and visual interest wherever they are placed. Try to nestle them in groups of three with various sizes, colors, and textures sitting side by side for the biggest visual impact.Another great resource (and this one is free!) is to go outside on a beautiful brisk day and collect leaves. It’s a great family activity but also perfect for solo introspective time, as well. Bring the leaves, twigs, and branches home and nestle them in and amongst the pumpkins and gourds that you’ve already placed around the house. Also, take some of the leaves and scatter them on a table or collect them in a beautiful clear vase. The point is to bring color in and place it where it is most needed. There really is nothing fancy about it it’s meant to look natural and casual, which in turn instantly makes it look elegant (just like Mother nature herself!)And don’t forget that some of the pumpkins you’ve collected can also be used as serving pieces at your party table. Just scoop out the inside and let air dry a little before adding delights like cranberry sauce, pumpkin soup, or other festive and seasonal yummies. The colors of the season are inspiring.so use these harvest colors to your full advantage.
