The hectic winter holidays are behind us and our thoughts are now turning to the next big reason to have a little celebration: Valentine’s Day. Ever year, Americans put aside their modern luxuries and journey back to the Renaissance era. The annual festivals appear in several states; like North Carolina and Georgia. From jousting to gnawing on a turkey leg, the Renaissance Faire makes living in the past fun and. . . well, tasty.Several of the attractions and stage shows vary by location. Some performances appear in multiple festivals, such as the faire’s infamous jousts. Like a scene from A Knight’s Tale, visitors watch as knights rush towards each other at startling speeds. Another tourist favorite is the Tortuga Twins show. These comedians perform their hilarious antics over the course of three acts. At the Carolina Festival (which starts in October), the twins will be using stories like Robin Hood and Troy to inspire their acts. Other reoccurring performances vary from the Washer Wenches to Dead Bob. However, just because they appear at multiple festivals doesn’t mean they will appear at every faire.
